6 - COMMITMENT
Now that we have developed the key elements in the plan for
our successful web site, there's one more thing. Commitment. We've researched our idea and found it to be workable. We've had our website designed to maximize effectiveness and are
telling our target audience about it. We arranged to have the dollars needed on hand to make a proper go of this project. Now
, we're 4 months into it and the results aren't flooding in. We'd better bail out and cut our losses, right? Not so fast. I'm telling you that the best way
to fail is to go through all the steps we've outlined here and then give up the ship before she's had time to leave the harbor. If you've been honest
about the research, if the web designer has provided a site that is appealing and you've provided interesting, current content, if you're getting
the message out to the right audience, and if you've set up an adequate funding to give the project a chance to mature, don't throw in the towel
early! While there have been some very quick successes on the web, as the medium itself matures we will begin to see the emergence of well
-thought-out businesses over a period of time. This time period will be shorter on the web than in traditional business. But, it may not, in fact probably will not, happen over night.
